Matchmaking, Dating Services, and Compatibility Review
Matchmaking and related dating services necessarily involve the review and consideration of personal preferences and other information in order to identify potential compatibility.
Authorized Flare personnel may review and evaluate relevant profile, preference, availability, feedback, communication, and service information to administer these services and identify or consider potential introductions.
Where appropriate for a service, Flare may share relevant information with a prospective match or another participant in order to facilitate an introduction or connection. The information shared will depend on the service, the circumstances, and any consent or service-specific terms that apply.
Participation in matchmaking or inclusion in Daterbase does not guarantee that Flare will identify or provide an introduction, match, response, relationship, or other particular outcome.
Technology-Assisted Processing
Flare uses technology to operate and administer our services.
Authorized Flare personnel may use internal systems and third-party technology tools, including tools with automated or artificial-intelligence-assisted functionality, to help organize, review, summarize, analyze, manage, or administer information.
These tools may assist with activities such as service administration, profile management, compatibility review, customer support, operational analysis, quality improvement, and safety or compliance processes.
Technology-assisted processing supports Flare’s operations and personnel. It does not guarantee the accuracy of a compatibility assessment, introduction, match, relationship, or other dating outcome.
Where applicable law requires additional notice or consent for a particular use of automated technology, we will provide that notice or obtain that consent as required.
Consent
We obtain consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information where consent is required by applicable law.
The appropriate form of consent depends on the circumstances, the sensitivity of the information, and the reasonable expectations of the individual. Where required because of the nature or sensitivity of the information, we may seek express consent.
You may withdraw consent to certain uses or disclosures of your personal information, subject to applicable legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
Withdrawing consent may affect our ability to provide a service where the information is reasonably necessary to provide or administer that service.
Marketing Communications
Where required, we obtain consent before sending marketing or promotional electronic communications.
You may unsubscribe from marketing communications using the unsubscribe mechanism provided in the communication or by contacting us.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not prevent Flare from sending communications reasonably necessary to administer a purchase, event, matchmaking service, coaching service, membership, account, safety matter, or other existing service relationship.
Cookies and Website Technologies
Flare and our service providers may use cookies and similar technologies to operate our websites, remember preferences, understand website usage, measure performance, support analytics, prevent fraud or abuse, and support marketing where permitted.
Your browser or device may allow you to block, remove, or manage cookies. Disabling certain cookies may affect the operation or functionality of parts of our website.
Photography, Video, and Event Media
Photographs, video, or audio may be captured at certain Flare events and may include your likeness, voice, or participation.
Event media may be used for promotional, marketing, social-media, website, internal, or other legitimate Flare business purposes where permitted by law.
If you do not wish to be photographed or recorded, please notify Flare or event staff before or upon arrival. We will make reasonable efforts to accommodate your request, although we cannot guarantee exclusion from every background, crowd, incidental, or previously captured image or recording.
You may contact Flare regarding future use of identifiable event media. Where appropriate and reasonably possible, we will consider requests to discontinue future use. We may not be able to remove or recall material that has already been distributed, published, printed, shared, or otherwise placed into circulation, subject to applicable law.
When We May Share Personal Information
Flare may disclose personal information to service providers, partners, sponsors, and other organizations where reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, to provide or administer a service, event, promotion, benefit, or commercial partnership, or as otherwise permitted by applicable law.
Some partnerships, sponsorships, promotions, or other commercial arrangements may involve the sharing of certain personal information with a participating organization. Where personal information would be shared for a third party’s own marketing, promotional, or other independent purposes, Flare will provide any additional notice and obtain any consent required by applicable law.
We may create, use, and disclose aggregated or otherwise non-identifying information for analytics, research, service improvement, business planning, partnership reporting, commercial insights, and other lawful purposes, provided that the information does not reasonably identify an individual and subject to applicable law.
We may disclose personal information where reasonably necessary to:
- service providers that help us operate our business, including payment, ticketing, hosting, scheduling, communications, customer-management, analytics, security, and technology providers;
- venues, event partners, sponsors, promotional partners, contractors, hosts, or other operational or commercial partners where information is reasonably necessary to administer an event, service, promotion, benefit, or partnership;
- prospective matches or other participants where appropriate to provide a matchmaking or dating service and consistent with applicable consent;
- payment processors, card networks, banks, financial institutions, platforms, or other appropriate organizations where reasonably necessary to process transactions, prevent or investigate fraud, respond to payment disputes or chargebacks, address payment obligations, or respond to abuse, exploitation, trafficking, safety concerns, prohibited conduct, or unlawful activity;
- law enforcement, emergency services, courts, regulators, government agencies, or other authorities where disclosure is required or permitted by law;
- professional advisers such as lawyers, accountants, insurers, or consultants where reasonably necessary and subject to appropriate confidentiality obligations; or

Processing and Storage Outside Your Province or Canada
Flare uses service providers and technology platforms that may process or store personal information outside your province or outside Canada.
When personal information is processed in another jurisdiction, it may be subject to the laws of that jurisdiction and may be accessible to courts, law enforcement, governments, or regulatory authorities in accordance with those laws.
Flare uses reasonable contractual, organizational, and other safeguards appropriate to the circumstances when personal information is handled by service providers.
Protecting Personal Information
Flare uses reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards appropriate to the nature and sensitivity of the personal information in our control.
Access to personal information is limited as appropriate to personnel, contractors, and service providers who require it for legitimate business or service purposes.
No method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be completely secure. If we become aware of a privacy or security incident, we will investigate and take reasonable steps to contain, assess, and respond to the incident.
Where applicable law requires notification of affected individuals, privacy regulators, or other authorities, we will provide the required notification.
Retention of Personal Information
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, administer our services, meet legal, accounting, contractual, safety, or operational requirements, resolve disputes, and protect or enforce legal rights.
Retention periods may vary depending on the type of information, the service involved, the sensitivity of the information, and applicable legal requirements.
Information associated with an ongoing membership, Daterbase profile, matchmaking relationship, or other continuing service may be retained while the person remains part of that service and while the information remains reasonably relevant to the purposes for which it is held.
Where reasonably necessary and permitted by law, Flare may retain limited safety, fraud, incident, restriction, complaint, or enforcement records after a service relationship ends in order to protect Flare and others, prevent abuse or attempts to circumvent restrictions, comply with legal obligations, and establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
The absence of a fixed expiry period for a service does not mean that every piece of personal information will necessarily be retained indefinitely.
When personal information is no longer reasonably required, we may securely delete, destroy, or anonymize it, subject to applicable law and legitimate retention requirements.
Accuracy and Updating Your Information
We take reasonable steps to keep personal information as accurate, complete, and current as necessary for the purposes for which it is used.
You are responsible for providing accurate information and for advising us of material changes where that information remains relevant to a Flare service.
You may contact us to request correction of personal information that you believe is inaccurate or incomplete.
Your Privacy Rights
Depending on the law that applies to you and the circumstances, you may have rights relating to your personal information, including the right to:
- request access to personal information we hold about you;
- request correction of inaccurate or incomplete information;
- where applicable, request that computerized personal information collected from you be provided to you, or communicated to an authorized person or organization, in a structured and commonly used technological format, subject to applicable law;
- withdraw consent to certain uses or disclosures, subject to applicable restrictions;
- request deletion, destruction, or anonymization of information where such a right applies;
- ask questions about how your personal information has been used or disclosed; and
- raise a concern or complaint about Flare’s privacy practices.
We may need to verify your identity before responding to a privacy request.
Certain information may be withheld or retained where permitted or required by law, including where necessary to protect another person’s privacy, preserve legal privilege, comply with legal obligations, address safety or fraud concerns, or establish, exercise, or defend legal rights.
You may also have the right to raise a complaint with the privacy regulator that has jurisdiction over your matter.

We do not knowingly offer these dating services to minors.
If we become aware that personal information relating to a minor has been provided to us in circumstances where it should not have been collected, we will take appropriate steps in accordance with applicable law.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect changes to our services, technology, business practices, or legal requirements.
